Welcome to the Quince Valley Designs website.  I specialise in O-scale (1:48 scale or 1/4"=1 foot) models of North American railroads, mostly in 2-rail.  

Quince Valley Designs is an authorised dealer for Atlas O, Weaver Models, Sunset, Golden Gate Depot, Helmsman Controllers and ESU Loksound products.  We also stock Kadee products and many other O-scale lines.  We usually have a selection of 2nd-hand models for sale and some scale 3-rail models earmarked for future conversion to 2-rail (so lots of 3-rail parts on hand).  We stock the Atlas O 2-rail track system (code 148 rail) and will get their 3-rail (solid code 215 rail) to order.

We sell at shows, club meetings and by mail order.  Or come and see us and the stunning views across Morecambe Bay, but phone first please in case we're walking the dogs.  We also offer O-scale hobby services including repairs, model-search and down-sizing, change-of-interest or estate sales.  Call me to discuss your particular requirements.

Stock
This is a selection of our current stock!  For imports in transit I show an anticipated price or in-stock date.  The price is usually pessimistic (exchange rate rounded down, everything else rounded up!) and the availability date optimistic.  Items can be reserved or ordered specially for you, with no obligation to buy if the pound heads south again.

For new announcements, Atlas have an order window and they build as many models as the dealers have ordered plus a 'wet finger in the air' few more.  I don't routinely order all new models and ordering after that date means I may have to buy from a distributor and I won't always be able to offer the best price.  Weaver build in batches too, but don't have an 'order window' as such.  Availability is shown on their website.  Sunset build brass in small batches; it pays to reserve as early as possible.  I only stock 2-rail, but 3-rail models can be ordered as well.

Payment
Payment is by cheque, cash or PayPal emailed invoice - more of that in a moment.  It would be nice to offer on-line shopping, but most of our items are one-of-a-kind and that means even more computer work to ensure that two customers can't buy the same item.  So while we don't have on-line purchasing, we do offer PayPal emailed invoices and here's how they work.  

Online Invoicing
You see something you like or just want to enquire about something not listed on this site.  Send me an email or phone me, I confirm availability and send you an email set out like an invoice with a PayPal 'BuyNow' button.  You click on this and are taken to PayPal's credit card payment facility.  Pay with your PayPal account or your preferred credit card (you don't have to have a PayPal account and you don't have to divulge your credit card details to me!).

Postage
Postage is at cost, express delivery at your request.  Normally Royal Mail is used, or Parcelforce for large items.  I usually buy the proper insurance, but will bear some of the cost since it's for my benefit too.
